A Not-for-Profit Empowering Youth from Low-Income, Garment Communities with Life Skills.
Empowering the Youth of Bangladesh Through Life Skills and Opportunities.
Light Up Bangladesh (LUB) is committed to empowering youth
from low-income, garment-based communities by providing
life skills development, employability training, and personal
growth opportunities
About Us
Light Up Bangladesh (LUB) is a not-for-profit organization committed to improving life skills development for youth (aged 15-25) from low-income, garment-based communities in Bangladesh. Given the country’s rapid progress toward middle- income status, future jobs will require critical skills beyond the conventional academic curriculum. This project is designed to equip young people with essential life skills—such as creativity, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and employability skills—to empower them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Our Mission
To empower youth from low-income garment-based communities by providing life skills, employability training, and entrepreneurial education, enabling them to thrive in a changing world
Our Vision
A future where every young person, regardless of socioeconomic background, is equipped with the skills and support to contribute meaningfully to their community and the economy."
Our Story
Light Up Bangladesh (LUB) is empowered by a rich history of providing quality education at the lowest possible cost to the mass garment-based population in Gazipur District for over 30 years. In 1993, Konabari Ideal High School, the first private high school in the region, was founded by the visionary LATE MD SIRAJUL ISLAM, making significant strides in making education accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. The school has provided over 300 scholarships, including full scholarships and reduced fees, helping both privileged and underprivileged students. Inspired by this legacy, Light Up Bangladesh was established in 2021 to further empower youth through life skills and employability training, particularly focusing on those from garment sector families. The inception of Light Up Bangladesh came during the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic when many garment workers lost their jobs, and their children's education suffered. The foundation was built to help parents maintain their children's education and to assist job seekers in acquiring the necessary skills for employment in a competitive job market.
