Gazipur, Bangladesh – October 25, 2024 – Light Up Bangladesh has
officially launched its Life Skills Development Program in Konabari,
Gazipur, dedicated to empowering youth (ages 15-25) from low-income,
garment-based communities. This innovative program offers essential life
skills, job readiness, and entrepreneurship training—marking a first in
Bangladesh with its comprehensive approach.
The launch event at the Konabari Learning Center saw inspiring
participation from local leaders, educators, and stakeholders. Special
guests included Matthew J. Yang, Founder of Quartz Educations Ltd.,
Hasan Ali, former Oxfam official, and Md. Shahin Islam, Headmaster at
Konabari Ideal High School, among other key community figures.
Together, they underscored the program’s potential to uplift youth with
practical, high-impact skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
“Our vision is to create real change by equipping 100 young people with
essential life and employability skills by 2025, connecting them with
potential employers and opportunities,” said Md. Saiful Islam, Founder
and Executive Director of Light Up Bangladesh. “Today marks the start of
that official journey.”
With collaborations across educational institutions, industry, and NGOs,
Light Up Bangladesh is set to provide structured skill-building pathways
for youth empowerment. The program registration is currently open, and
interested youth can apply by contacting the Learning Center.
